Will employees be forced to have the vaccine?

Recent survey involving 750 executives carried out by HRLocker in relation to COVID vaccine had the following results.

Did you know that….

  • 23% of employers plan to insist that their staff take the vaccination against COVID-19
  • 51% of employers would encourage employees to get vaccinated (but don’t plan on insisting).
  • 49% of executives admitted that in a recruitment process, if there were two equal candidates, they would hire a vaccinated candidate over an unvaccinated one.

Employers can feel like they are in a lose-lose situation.  If they do mandate the vaccine, it could lead to discrimination and unfair dismissal claims and possibly even claims for adverse reactions.

If they don’t mandate the vaccine it can lead to claims for failing to fulfil their health and safety obligations and duty of care towards employees in the workplace
