We currently have an exciting opportunity within the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service, to work in the dynamic and busy Built and Natural Environment Team as a Senior Landscape or Landscape Officer, experience dependent.

Within the Greater Cambridge Planning Service, there is an opportunity for a self-motivated, energetic landscape practitioner to gain broad and valuable experience in the public sector.
Planning for green infrastructure combined with good place-making is of the highest priority for us. The role will mainly focus on the delivery of strategic and development management sites throughout the Authority’s city, towns and villages. Phased development of strategic sites such as Norhtstowe, Waterbeach and Cambourne as well as major mixed use, life science and residential developments. The work of the Landscape Team is very busy, fast-moving and rewarding. Your knowledge and experience base will need to cover landscape design from a strategic level of landscape planning through to a sound understanding of landscape design, detailing and plant choice. It will also need to include experience in landscape and visual impact assessment and a good awareness of sustainable drainage, ecological and biodiversity systems.
Typically (and briefly), the day-to-day work includes:
You will work alongside our close and collaborative Built and Natural Environment Team of Urban Designers, Ecologists, Arboriculturalists, Conservation Officers and Sustainability Officers; each well qualified and experienced in their own field. A working knowledge of sustainable drainage design and the basic concepts of ecology, green infrastructure and biodiversity will be very useful.
If you are offered a Senior role, you may have line management responsibilities and be expected to support the development of less experienced staff.
You will have regular contact with our customers, including residents, applicants, developers, landowners, County Council, other District Councils and parish councils and businesses.
