The core function of the role is to lead, manage and develop Landscape Architecture staff within the multi-disciplinary Environmental Planning Team. The Principal Landscape Officer will ensure the Service is delivered in a customer focused, efficient and responsive way in accordance with Council priorities, legislation and best practice; and will promote the highest standards of landscape architecture by leading on the development of planning policies and the delivery of development management advice to protect the high quality landscapes and green infrastructure of Cheshire East.

Salary: £34,728 - £40,728 plus £3,000 market supplement applied pro-rata until December 2022 (at which point the market supplement will be reviewed).

As a Principal Landscape Officer, you will be the lead professional officer advising Cheshire East Council on all aspects of Landscape Architecture. You will directly manage two other landscape officers, leading on case management and appeals, and the role provides the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects including:
You should be qualified to degree level within Landscape Architecture, be a member of the Landscape Institute and should have Development Management experience from the public or private sector. You must enjoy a challenge, be a self-motivated team player and demonstrate excellent customer care. We're looking for someone that can manage people and, when the occasion arises, represent the Council at appeals and public inquiries. The ability to travel throughout Cheshire East and a full UK driving license are required.
