This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced landscape architect to join the council’s Natural Environment Team. The role includes the ability to work from home on average 40% of working week, and we are open to discussions about working hours.
You will be joining a bold and innovative organisation that has big ambitions – for the borough and for our staff. We do things differently here. We go beyond expectations to nurture and develop our communities and our colleagues as we shape an exciting future for Basingstoke and Deane.
Your focus will be on designing and managing improvements to our open spaces that have a positive impact on people’s quality of life. Managing all aspects of projects from concept to completion, you’ll get involved with community consultations, co-ordinate tenders and oversee implementation of works on site. The role will also see you acting as consultee on planning applications in order to shape future developments in the borough.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside ecologists, tree officers and parks officers, there will be the opportunity to work closely with these officers in your work. This will give you the chance to share ideas, broaden your knowledge and become our expert in this area, bringing the latest thinking on current trends and best practice.
A degree or postgraduate diploma in landscape architecture or landscape design is a must, together with strong communication and project management skills. While experience of community consultations would be ideal, what really matters is that you are genuinely enthusiastic about shaping the spaces that people love using.
In return, we’ll provide all the support you need to develop your career with us. There will also be the possibility of mentoring.
In return we can offer you an excellent range of benefits including: Salary (Grade 6, £32,909 - £36,298) subject to pay review.
