The Prince’s Foundation (The Foundation) is a charity established by the former Prince of Wales that aims to transform lives by helping to build harmonious and enduring communities. Key among the activities of The Foundation is a focus on teaching and demonstrating principles of sustainable urban design and architecture that put people and communities at the centre of the design process.
The Foundation is an exciting work environment dedicated to improving the quality of the built environment both within the UK and abroad. It brings together people with expertise across a broad range of disciplines who work collaboratively to deliver high quality social, environmental and economic benefits to established, new or growing communities.
This role would suit a recent landscape architecture graduate interested in sustainable urban development, who recognises the importance of the natural and built environment in the context of climate action; and is looking to build their skill set in the fields of urban design, landscape architecture, project management and coordination, and sustainable place-making.
The post is based at The Foundation’s offices at 19-22 Charlotte Road, London EC2A 3SG, a repurposed former warehouse in Shoreditch. This post may also require periodic travel within the UK and internationally.
The Graduate Landscape Architect / Assistant will be engaged primarily on the design and delivery of a demonstration mixed-use local centre on an international exemplar new town project. There will be opportunity to be involved in other master planning projects and related work. Reporting directly to Leslie Ohomele as project lead and Kim Hitch as project director and working within the Practice Team, the post-holder would hold a variety of responsibilities, including:
It may be possible to balance and tailor the above responsibilities according to the skill-set of the successful applicant, but overall, the role will provide a varied mix of outline and detailed landscape design and production information including specifications, masterplan development, and technical coordination.
Within the office we arrange regular CPD sessions, on topics relevant to ongoing projects and providing continual training and development available to all staff.
The Foundation works with a wide range of partners, meaning it is inevitable that tasks and responsibilities may change and adapt over the life of a project. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises, undertaking tasks which are not specifically covered in their Job Description.
Monday - Friday commencing 9.00 am - 5.30 pm with one hour for lunch.
In addition to public holidays, 22 annual days leave is given, three days of which are normally to be taken between Christmas and New Year.
Up to £29,000 pa depending upon qualifications and experience.
