We believe that making better places is not only essential and important but should always be fun, challenging and rewarding. We want to find people who share our values for making better places and who want to develop themselves beyond their comfort zone and who will help their teammates to do the same.
We’re an Employee Owned business and the team is at the heart of our culture. We want to find people who thrive in a team and who can develop themselves, The Urbanists as a business and the people around them.
Due to increased optimism about our forecast of future projects we are very pleased to be looking for talented Landscape Architects to join our dedicated team of urban designers, planners and fellow Landscape Architects.
We are looking for talented Landscape Architects to join our Central Cardiff studio. We are interested in a range of candidates from 2 years of relevant consultancy experience to practitioners with a deep understanding of the profession honed over many years. We’re flexible on location, but would like our new team member to commit to the team, even if they are working remotely/semi-remotely.
We will be ideally looking for practitioners with core skills (e.g., implementation, front end design or LVIA) who have a desire to focus on their specific knowledge but have the adaptability and appetite to work on a very wide range of projects. Our workload is wide and varied. We do not pigeonhole the people in our business, so we are looking for competent all-rounders to join the team. Internal collaboration with urban designers, planners and architects within our team is a key part of the job. Cross-pollinating skills and ideas is a key part of our company culture.
We’ve proven we can deliver complex place changing landscape schemes and we have very exciting projects ahead of us. We will provide the time, support and environment so you will fit right into our team.
Successful candidates will ideally be CMLI, although not essential (an equivalent overseas qualification would suffice).
Vectorworks knowledge is a desirable skill, but not essential. However, the candidate must be willing to develop their knowledge of this software and will receive the appropriate training and support to do so.
Working with contractors and specialist sub-contractors, and good tendering and on-site experience is desirable.
A valid work UK visa is desirable, although we would be open to discuss visa requirements and Sponsorship with a strong candidate with relevant experience and excellent verbal and written English.
It is vital that the right candidates can contribute effectively to our company culture within The Urbanists. Our team have dedicated time to distil what they think is their ‘ideal colleague’ and this is what it looks like (in no particular order):
We will only add people to our team if we believe that they can enhance our company culture.
We offer great opportunities to develop your professional skills and knowledge within a clear career development framework. Our studios are creative and sociable, with an international team of talented professionals in a wonderful working environment.
